Description: When Xanana Gusmão was elected as first President of East Timor in 2002, the new nation had no money to acquire a presidential vehicle. Gusmão therefore purchased this modest Daihatsu Taruna and spent the rest of his transport allocation on buying a variety of vehicles for his staff. He used this vehicle from 2003 to 2007. It is seen here on display at the Xanana Gusmão Reading Room in Dili.Source: the caption displayed on the windscreen
