Description: The reverse of a half-Siliqua of Heraclius. Depicted are Heraclius's son Heraclius Constantine (left) and Empress Martina (right). Heraclius Constantine wears a tablion was a type of Byzantine cloak (paludamentum) pinned at the right shoulder hanging to the hips, made of rich Byzantine silk embroidered with a square or diamond shaped pattern on the front. Tablions were symbols of rank and could only be worn by members of the upper class. Martina wears velarion (βηλάριον) - women's headscarf that covers both the head and shoulders. Both have pendilias - ornamentation hanging from the sides of their crowns.
