Description: A section of the International Space Station's starboard or S-3 truss being manufactured at NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, Louisiana. The segment is made from high-chromium-content stainless steel alloy, cast in a large sand mold that is later milled on a large milling machine to reduce weight. It still has a mass of over three tons. This piece will be joined with the other steel girders to form the finished segment. Picture taken in November 1997.
