The appointment of the Patriarch Ignatios. Text from the Chronicle of John Skylitzes: "... When the thrice-blessed Methodius depared the life after occupying the Constantinopolitan throne for four breif years, Ignatios was enthroned as patriarch. He was the grandson of the emperor Nikephoros [I] on his mother's side and the son of the emperor Michael [I] who fell from power. After he fell from power he was castrated and thus excluded from the succession; he became a monk, then hegoumenos of the monastery of Satyros. ..."
