Description: Description: Isabel Bishop specialized in depictions of independent and self-sufficient young female figures in urban, working class settings. While her subject matter and incorporation of broken graphic lines was thoroughly modern, her style of painting incorporated layers of transparent glazes to create figures of monumental presence was a reflection of the techniques of old master painters.
