Description: James B. Metcalfe (I believe James Bard Metcalfe, and that he's also connected to the history of Sedro-Woolley, Washington: see James Bard Metcalfe—Washington Territory Attorney General and P.A. Woolley's advance man, Skagit River Journal of History & Folklore, posted Nov. 27, 2003, and updated Sept. 1, 2007), born 1846 in Mississippi; fought for south in Civil War; became a lawyer in San Francisco and later in Seattle, Washington. In the latter city, he was also a cable car company promoter. Frederic James Grant calls him "General Metcalfe"; not clear when he would have earned that title, he was not a civil war general.
