Description: Autumn colours at Rarik village along Jankar Nala, Lahaul, Himachal Pradesh, India. Elev. 3,650m (11,975'). Lahaul is a high-altitude semi-desert region in the Himalayas. As it is mostly above the tree line, features are stark and the scale is vast. The mountain range on the right rises 1,600m (5,250') above the river. The range from top right corner to left edge is about 6,000m (20,000') long. The distance from the foreground to the river left of centre is about 1,000m (3,280').
