The 1st Annual Warrior Classic Softball game benefits Rocker’s Save Homeless Veterans, Inc. as well as the Georgia National Guard Family Support Foundation and Veterans SOAR. Rocker, an ardent military supporter, founded the charity after encountering a homeless veteran and determinedly pursued a solution to a problem that has become frighteningly endemic in America. “People don’t become homeless by accident, these are men and women who served our country so that we could enjoy an afternoon of baseball,” Rocker said in his opening remarks siting two primary contributors tothe problem. “It’s either psychiatric problems or a brain injuries or chemical addiction.” The charity’s aim is to get Veterans back on home plate by offering a chance at stability with affordable housing, counseling and job training through a partnership with Georgia Tech.
