A few years later, she returned to Johns Hopkins University as a research scientist and associate professor of anesthesiology, and elected a fellow by the American Institute of Chemists and American Physical Society. She is noted for carrying out the first all-valence-electron, three-dimensional quantum-chemical calculations, and for research on the clinical effects of tranquilizers and narcotic drugs.
