Description: Just Stop Oil activists walking up Whitehall towards Trafalgar Square on Saturday 20 May 2023 - I should add that they seemed to allow at least some of the buses to pass them. The "Just Stop Oil" message to the UK Government is to lobby for the end of new investment in oil fields and production, instead turning to green sources of energy.

Tactics include slowly marching along a road, as in this case, dressed in orange hi-vis jackets and carrying their simple "Just Stop Oil" message on banners. Activists have been subject to assaults by motorists and others, as well as surveillance and arrest for peacefully protesting. Penalties faced include prison sentences and fines, under the newly passed Public Order Act.
