Description: Statue of St. Brigid at the Market Square in Kildare, dedicated to the victims of the Gibbet Rath massacre. Inscription: In memory of over 350 men from Kildare and district who gave their lives at Gibbet Rath 28 May 1798. This statue was financed by the Gibbet Rath Memorial Fund which collected donations since at least 1950 (according to a report in the Leinster Leader on 12 August 1950 about the St. Brigid Statue Project). The statue was unveiled in 1973 and erected at the Market Square in 1976. (See Newspaper Archive of the Grey Abbey Restoration Project in Kildare.)
