Description: A family in Savannakhet province of Laos takes advantage of good weather to eat outdoors, perhaps taking a lunch break during a workday. Two baskets of sticky rice, a Lao staple, are visible. It’s supplemented by vegetables, dip, and perhaps a small amount of meat. This family is Mangkong (also known as Makong), one of the 49 officially-recognized ethnic groups in Laos. The Mangkong largely live in Savannakhet and Khammuan provinces.
