Description: Unveiled in June 2012, Larkin Square is a public green space inspired by the plans of the Larkin Soap Company to build an outdoor plaza for its employees (the unrealized original was to be built on what's now the site of Engine 32/Ladder 5 Firehouse, just off the right margin of this photo). Today, aside from a pleasant break-time hangout for workers at the nearby office buildings, Larkin Square boasts a series of restaurants and recreational facilities, and plays host to a busy weekly schedule of special events such as the Thursday-night Larkin Market, seen here.
