Description: Archaeological dig Open Day at Greyfriars, Leicester, Sept 8th 2012. The dig hopes to find the burial place of Richard III. An exposed stone at the bottom of the picture is interpreted as a stone seat from the Chapter House. Trench 2 cuts through a car park used by Leicester Social Services, and through soil from the gardens of the 16th/17th Century Herrick mansion, to reveal church walls crossing the trench at the two ranging rods, interpreted as walls of the Church Choir, and between which an adult male burial was found. The building to the right is the old Alderman Newton's 'Greencoat' school building.
