Description: Light house at Jack's Point, Timaru, NZ (approx 1904) This cast iron lighthouse had been previously errected at Somes Island in November 1865. It was a 14-foot high prefabricated tower that imported from England. Its operation began on 17 February 1866 and lasted until a new lighthouse had been built and began operation on 21 February 1900. The tower was subsequently decommissioned and and taken to Jack’s Point, Timaru where it is still today.
