Description: Lochaber Camanachd Club House & Pitch, Spean Bridge This ground, "Spean Bridge Stadium", is the home of Lochaber Camanachd: Camanachd is the Gaelic name for Shinty. Shinty (derived from the Scottish Gaelic sinteag although it is referred to as camanachd or iomain in modern Gaelic) is a team sport played with sticks and a ball. Shinty is now played almost exclusively in the Highlands of Scotland, and amongst Highland migrants to the big cities, but it was formerly more widespread, reaching as far as England. Closely related to Irish Hurling. May appear to the untutored southern visitor as an more enthusiastic form of hockey. Beyond are the Grey Corries (3000ft plus).
