Description: Lock gates and The Star, Stone, Staffordshire. The Trent and Mersey Canal has a flight of four locks at Stone, altering the water level by over 39 feet (12 metres). This one by the Star public house is the bottom lock, and the bottom mitre gates are shown. The pub is a popular one, and there is usually an audience for any boaters working through the lock.
