Description: Monument to Arsenio Martínez Campos is situated in the Plaza de Guatemala in El Parque del Retiro. A stone pedestal supporting a bronze statue, inaugurated in 1907, was designed by sculptor Mariano Benlliure. General Arsenio Martínez-Campos y Antón fought the First Spanish Republic in a military coup d’état in 1874 and restored Spain's Bourbon dynasty and was appointed Captain-General of Cuba.
