Description: Map of the Gold Coast from Coomera Island to Nobby Beach, 1887. Shows the southern end of Stradbroke Island (now South Stradbroke Island) and the lost town of Moondarewa. Shows the towns of Southport and the town of Nerang and the Nerang River. This map pre-dates the development of Surfers Paradise and other suburbs along the ocean. There has been considerable natural changes and man-made development including land reclamation since that time making comparison with a modern map challenging. A small unnamed east-west road shown on the map was Ferry Road (now Cavill Avenue), the only indicator of Surfers Paradise.
