Description: "Murder Stone" The stone records "William Wood, Eyam, Derbyshire - here murdered July 16th, 1823" as far as I can make out. Apparently, he was driving his cattle to market when he was set upon. I suggest you look at the later, better quality image if you want to be able to read the inscription.
