Description: In 1908 women workers at the Corruganza box factory in Summerstown, Tooting, South London, went on strike over wage cuts. Mary Macarthur of the National Federation of Women Workers (NFWW) called a mass meeting in Tranfalgar Square to highlight the struggle. The dispute was settled in September 1908 with all wage reductions withdrawn, with one exception, and all workers who had gone on strike returned to work (except one who did not wish to return).
