Description: Photo of the Middle Canal of the Holyoke Canal System, visible at the far-right is the Beebe & Holbrook Paper Mill, now identified as the Canal Gallery today, and further away on the right are the two mills of the Merrick Thread Company, eventually known as the American Thread Company. The building with the large smokestack and castle-like appearance still stands today, its neighbor in the center-right with the pyramid roof would be razed in a fire around 1993. Out of frame behind the foliage at the left would be the Sears Building of Paper City Studios, and the former Judd Paper plant, now Gateway City Arts.
