Description: Detail of art installation Canto de Agua (Song of water) by Betsabeé Romero (1963-) which was held in the Zócalo of Mexico City (2016). The installation combined the cultural traditions of the Day of the Dead and the trajinera, a type of flat-bottomed boat, with the social concerns of the present. The full installation included 113 trajineras-offerings commemorating those who had died. The trajineras were created by Mexican artisans from Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl and reflect traditions of pre-Hispanic times in which trajineras circulated in Tenochtitlán. Photographs were taken by Milton Martínez, a photographer for the Secretaría de Cultura CDMX which sponsored the event, and released by them on Flickr. This photograph shows one of the 113 trajineras in the art installation in the foreground. It has been cropped from a wider photograph show more in the background,
