Description: The Mitchell Building (1876) at 207 E. Michigan Street in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was built for the millionaire Scottish immigrant, entrepreneur, and politician Alexander Mitchell. Designed by E. Townsend Mix in the French Second Empire style and constructed of gray sandstone at a total cost of $400,000, this building stood at the hub of downtown Milwaukee and still functions today as a commercial center.
