Description: Monoptilon bellioides — common name: Desert Star, Belly Flower Each flower is a little bigger than a US dime coin. It grows less than an inch off the ground, hence the common name 'Belly Flower.' Species from Western North America. Very common throughout Death Valley and the entire Mojave Desert. Photographed in a canyon off Badwater Road, Death Valley National Park, California.
