Description: Monterey, California and Monterey Bay from the air, in a postcard view. This photo was taken on March 1, 1968 in Cannery Row, Monterey, CA, US. The city of Monterey occupies most of the photo. Fort Ord, a large Army base, begins at the far left. Fort Ord has since been closed. You can see a hint of Carmel and Carmel Bayover the ridge at top center. A U.S. Navy cruiser is anchored in Monterey Bay. There are no Navy faciities in Monterey, and I never saw a Navy ship during my year at the Army Language School. This card was sent to me by a friend who was attending a conference in Monterey in 1968.
