Description: One of the key features of IND stations was — in contrast to the first IRT stations — their simplicity. The walls were tiled white all over but a horizontal color stripe. The color scheme was all the same between two express stations. That was intended to help passengers to find their bearings. The name of the station was tiled again and again directly below. During the last years the color schemes were somewhat given up. The white “42” comes from renovations that took place after 2000. The blue color is not so original, too.
