Description: Part of the right-hand half of a newsprint photo of Frances C. Fairman, taken in a studio in 1910, when she was around 74 years old. The photograph was across the newspaper centrefold, and the centre part is missing. The studio in the picture is possibly that of Queen Victoria's daughter Louise, Duchess of Argyll, who was a sculptor and dog-owner. The caption says, "The Queen's Japanese [spaniel sits f]or his portrait. Miss Frances C. Fairman the well[-known artist has be]en honoured with a command from the Queen to paint four of Her Maje[sty's dogs. Here she is at ]work at Buckingham Palace. Togo, presented to the [Queen by the Emperor of Japa]n, is the sitter".
