Description: Oakhurst Cottage, Hambledon. At SU964379. The National Trust have several cottages in the village, which are lived in apart from this one. This has been restored to represent a 19C labourer's cottage. Its history is not for certain, but it was probably built as a timber-framed barn in the 16C and became a dwelling in the 17C. A large bread oven, which projects from the back wall, was added in the 18C, and a staircase inserted, leading to two bedrooms.
