Description: Palm trees back up the remnants of the old Lanaina fort. The fort was built when sailors from the whaling ships parked off shore shot canons into the town as a protest to the missionary's attempts to clean up their behavior by banning native women from visiting their ships. The fort was built to imprison the rowdy sailors.
