Description: The Dhofar War. The view from "Simba " looking over the edge of the 1000 ft precipice to the fertile 'ledge' below which led to another 1500 ft steep escarpment into the Indian Ocean. This is a view from ' Black ' ( a location on 'Mainbrace ') showing the track from PDRY ( to the right of photo) used by the adoo(enemy) to re-supply the insurgents operating against the Sultan in Dhofar. Such resupplies, including heavy weapons, usually involved camels or donkeys. By occupying "Simba" this resupply route used by the insurgents was compromised.
