Description: Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, travelled to Rome, Italy, to participate in the International Conference on Development and Migration. This conference gathered the Italian Government and the leaders of almost all states on the southern shore of the wider Mediterranean, in the Middle East and the Gulf, as well as European Union Member States and partners from the Sahel and the Horn of Africa, but also the heads of European institutions and international financial institutions, with the aim of launching a shared development strategy for the implementation of measures for growth and development in the wider Mediterranean and Africa.
