Description: Procession on the occasion of a Durbar (audience) of the Great Mogul Akbar II. (1760-1837), which was probably held on Id or after Ramadan. In the wake of the monarch, who was from 1806-1837 Mughal Emperor of India, there are his sons, high Indian and British dignitaries and army troops. The procession includes elephants carrying the royal insignia (standards with sun, umbrella, fish etc.), also palanquins and closed bullock-carriages for the ladies, camels, horses and gun-carriages. Detail of a gouache (16 cm x 239 cm), which was made around 1815 by an unknown artist from Delhi.
