Description: The iconic pear tree photo by Jeremiah Gurney in 1863. It was brought from the Netherlands to New Amsterdam and planted by Peter Stuyvesant at the corner of 13th Street and 3rd Avenue in 1647. The pear tree suffered a bad winter in 1866. It was hit by a wagon and felled in 1867.
