Description: Τhe Hellenic marine corps was started by K. Papadopoulos, V. Ioannides, I. Manousakakis and N. Dertilis. This photo is a piece of history, showing one of the first inspections of the corps in Kechries, where the 505 battalion was located. From left to right: 2nd from left (in civilian attire) K. Papadopoulos, first commander of 505 Marine Battalion (till 21/4/1967), 3rd Lt Gen. Odysseas Aggelis (aka Angelis), 5th Gen. Phaedon Gizikis (subsequent President of the Hellenic Democracy following the Ioannides' coup), 6th Lt Colonel Ioannis Manousakakis, Commander of the 505 Marine Battalion, 8th Major Vasileios Ioannides, Deputy Commander of the 505 Marine Battalion.
