Description: Phaethornis longirostris, Drake Bay, Costa Rica. Formerly considered conspecific with Phaethornis superciliosus. Nectar feeding on Etlingera. This bird was very camera shy. If the camera was turned off it would stop for up to a minute to drink from this flower and the one next to it, but as soon as the camera was turned on it would disappear. The flower was about 3' from the chair outside our room.
