Description: Phrik nam pla (Thai: พริกน้ำปลา) is also called nam phrik (Thai: น้ำพริก) for short. Sometimes one can also encounter nam pla phrik (Thai: น้ำปลาพริก ) and nam phrik pla (Thai: น้ำพริกปลา) for this sauce made from chopped phrik ki nu (bird's eye chilli: green, red or mixed), nam pla (fish sauce) and nam manao (lime juice). It very often also contains chopped or thinly sliced raw garlic. It is a standard sauce at nearly every Thai meal where it is used in much the same way as salt (albeit a spicy "salt").
