Description: 1855 woodcut or lithograph of the pier tram on the first Herne Bay pier which was built in 1832. The tram ran from 1833, and was powered by sail and foot - i.e. when there was not enough wind, pier employees had to push it. This picture was published before 1923. It is signed "Rock & Co, Walbrook", and is in possession of the Herne Bay Record Society, which kindly sent it for upload to Wikipedia under the licence below. As of 2010, the picture is on display at Herne Bay Museum, Kent, England.
