Description: Wreckage from a U.S. Navy Martin PBM-3D Mariner flying boat (BuNo 48199) of Patrol Squadron 16 (VP-16) on Howland Island [1]. The aircraft made a forced landing at Howland Island on 10 June 1944 due to engine failure. All crew members survived the crash and were rescued by the crew of the USCGC Balsam (WLB-62).
