Thomas Coke (1674–1727), of Melbourne Hall, Derbyshire, in 1698; Thomas Coke married, secondly, Elizabeth Hales (d. 1722), a Maid of Honour to Queen Anne; By descent to their son, George Lewis Coke (1715–1751); By inheritance to his sister, Charlotte, wife of Sir Matthew Lamb, 1st Bt (1705–1768); By descent to their son, Peniston Lamb, 1st Viscount Melbourne (1745–1828); By descent to his son, William Lamb, 2nd Viscount Melbourne (1779–1848), Prime Minister of Great Britain; By inheritance to his brother, Frederick Lamb, 3rd Viscount Melbourne (1782–1853); By inheritance to their sister, Emily Lamb, wife of Peter Clavering-Cowper, 5th Earl Cowper (1778–1837), later Viscountess Palmerston; By inheritance to their son, George Cowper, 6th Earl Cowper (1806–1856); By inheritance to his youngest daughter, Lady Amabel Cowper (1846–1906), who married, Admiral of the Fleet, Lord Walter Kerr (1839–1927); By descent to their son, Captain Andrew William Kerr (1877–1929), who married Marie Constance Kerr (1889–1929); By descent to their son, Peter Kerr, 12th Marquess of Lothian (1922–2004); Thence by descent to the present owner.
