Image: Princely group portrait. South wall of the nave. - Google Art Project
Description: The portrait of princely family was located on three walls of the nave – south, west and north. The west wall was demolished at the end of the 17th c., because of emergency state. Part of painting has not been preserved. The fragments of preserved painting do not give an opportunity to identify the portrayed persons, because of poor state of preservation. Traditionally, it has been argued that princely portrait presented the family of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, himself and his wife (the figures that were portrayed namely on the west wall, i.e. central part of the composition). On the south wall, there are four figures of the members of princely family, probably prince’s children.
