Description: Pseudictator kingsleyae Juhel, 2015 Holotype Image: Pierre Juhel. Specimen: Natural History Museum. New genus, new species, known from only a single example collected 120 years ago. An amazing specimen, named after an amazing woman africanhistory.about.com/library/weekly/aa011002a.htm Mary Kingsley presented 12 specimens from 'Gold Coast' to the Museum in 1896. One was the only known specimen of this genus and species, named more than 100 years later in her honour. People have been poking it around for decades and it has multiple labels on it suggesting what it might be, but it was only this year that we showed it to French expert Pierre Juhel, along with the story of its interesting provenance. To have got something this unique in just 12 specimens, suggests she was in a very remote place, was very lucky, or had a remarkably good eye!
