Description: Rock Cafe Sign in Stroud, Oklahoma. Historic Rock Café on Route 66 in Stroud, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. The original 1936-1939 construction of this restaurant pre-dated rock and roll (a term coined by broadcaster Alan Freed circa-1951); this building is the "Rock Café" because its outer walls are constructed from local fieldstone.
