Description: A silver denarius of Caracalla dating to AD 214 (Reece period 11). P M TR P XVII COS IIII PP reverse type depicting Apollo seated left holding branch and lyre on tripod. Mint of Rome. RIC IV, Pt I, p. 246, no. 238a. This coin has been deliberately cut in three directions. This is a feature of many of the coins from the Piercebridge assemblage.
