Description: Royal Air Force Coastal Command, 1939-1945. Oblique aerial photographs taken from waist window a Consolidated Liberator of No. 311 (Czechoslovak) Squadron RAF during an attack on the German blockade-runner ALSTERUFER in the Bay of Biscay. Trails from rocket projectiles previously fired at the vessel can be seen to the right, while the aircraft has just scored a hit on the ALSTERUFER's stern with one of its bombs. Pilot Officer O Dolezal and his crew eventually left the vessel on fire and sinking to return to their base at Beaulieu, Hampshire.
