Description: This ruffed grouse was spotted escorting her chicks at Seney National Wildlife Refuge in Michigan. When we spotted her, she flared out her neck in an attempt to scare us away! Ruffed grouse chicks are able to walk and leave the nest within 24 hours, but will stay with their mother for about 12 weeks.
