Description: Sambucus racemosa, ssp. pubens, synonymous with ssp. racemosa red elderberry, collected May 31, 1975 by T. S. and B. A. Cochrane from beyond Toft Point, 3 miles east of Baileys Harbor, Door County, Wisconsin. Bushy shrub, with five main stems to 3.6 meters tall. Alnus rugosa (syn. Alnus incana) swamp with abundant shrubform Acer spicatum, also Thuja occidentalis. Edge of artificial opening; associated with Urtica dioica
