Description: Sandy Hook Archeological Site The Bachelor Officers' Quarters housed unmarried officers. Captains and majors lived on the second floor in their own suites with private baths and sitting rooms. Lieutenants occupied single bedrooms and shared a bathroom on the top floor. The first floor was the original Fort Hancock Officers club. Fort Hancock was deactivated in 1974. It is located in Monmouth County, New Jersey. The Sandy Hook Archeological Site, which includes Fort Hancock, is part of the Gateway National Recreation Area, which is administered by the National Park Service.
