Description: Seattle, Washington, 1916. First Avenue looking north from where it meets both James Street and Yesler Way. The closest block of First Avenue here has now been cobbled and incorporated into Pioneer Square Park. The totem pole has been replaced by a replica, and the iron pergola was rebuilt after being hit by a truck. The Pioneer Building (on the right) is very much intact as of 2008, as is the Mutual Life Building partially seen at far left. Several other buildings visible survive in whole or part as of 2008, but the building most prominently visible at center left is gone and replaced by a parking lot; the "Safe Kenneth Hotel" is also replaced by a multi-story parking lot.
