Description: Siegmund Lubin (1851-1923). A motion picture pioneer, famed as the first movie mogul. In optical shop here in 1897, began his empire of six studios in five states. His technical genius and marketing skill did much to popularize the medium. Bankrupt by 1916; died in obscurity.
